The cadets have been awarded certificates

On April 1, the ceremony of awarding certificates to the active participants of the Round Table “Women in the maritime industry: realities and prospects” has been held at the St.Petersburg's SUR Office.

Let us remind you that the Round Table was organized on the initiative of the Seafarers'  Union of Russia (SUR) on the eve of International Women’s Day. The range of issues stated in the meeting program provided for the participation of ladies - from cadets, graduates and teachers of maritime educational institutions to specialists working in the maritime industry, including those taking an active part in the activities of SUR.

The stories of female cadets of the Navigation and Electromechanical faculties of the Admiral Makarov State Maritime University of Maritime and Inland Shipping aroused great interest among the participants. The girls told why they had made a choice in favour of traditionally male-dominated professions. Each of them has her own story, but there is also something that unites them. This is a love for the sea, a desire to make a career in the shipping industry – at sea or on shore.

SUR Chairman Yury Sukhorukov presented certificates and souvenirs to Anna Afanasenko, Yulia Koval, Ksenia Lukanina, Daria Shestaeva - the female cadets of the famous "Makarovka" - one of the leading educational institutions in Russia that trains specialists for the maritime industry.

He noted that the past round table provided answers to many questions, touched on pressing issues, gave the opportunity to share opinions and experience. Besides, the participation of the younger generation, future Navigators and Electrical Engineers, provided an opportunity to once again remind of the significance and importance of maritime professions.
