SUR Council has started its work

Today, March 27, the Council of the Seafarers' Union of Russia has started its work in Moscow. Representatives of SUR territorial and regional organizations from different maritime regions of the country, where 48 primary and 11 territorial organizations operate, will discuss current organizational issues and action plan for 2024. According to the approved agenda, the Council will run for three days.

During this time, the heads of territorial and primary organizations will report on their performance, listen to reports of their colleagues on current work, and share information about more common issues the trade union members face and measures to tackle them. Among the issues on the agenda is a report and discussion on the strategy for a just transition in sustainable development programs in the maritime industry of the Russian Federation: what steps the maritime trade union can take right now to ensure a just transition.

This is a complex and multistep process that will involve most seafarers, that's why one of the union's goals is to ensure security of workers and maritime communities while implementing new technologies.

During the work of the Council, several pleasant moments are also scheduled, in particular, the awarding of the badge “The SUR Badge of Honor” to the Union's members for many years of service and devotion to the profession.
