SUR Inspectors visited the m/v "Victoria" in Nakhodka

On November 16, Inspectors of the Far Eastern Territorial Organization of the Seafarers’ Union of Russia (FETO SUR) visited the m/v "Victoria", berthed at the Nakhodka fishing port. The FETO SUR Chairman, Nikolay Sukhanov, revealed the outcome of the inspection.

The cargo ship was built in 1992 and is flying the Russian flag. The registered owner is Vladivostok-based Sea Victory LLC, the operator is Pacific Ship management from the same city. The crew consists of 19 citizens of the Russian Federation.

An AB seaman's salary is about RUB 90,000, and a captain's salary is RUB 250,000. The salary is paid on time. Also, the certificates of insurance required in accordance with the Maritime Labour Convention 2006 are available on board. “

A daily food allowance per crew member is RUB 425. The insured amount in the event of the death of a crew member is USD30,000,” - Nikolay Sukhanov added. It turned out that there is no collective agreement with the trade union on board. Meanwhile, the SUR members are among the crew. At the request of the Inspectors, the captain provided all the necessary documents, including the seafarers’ employment agreements and the payroll.

The SUR Inspectors gave the crew members the latest issues of the “Maritime Unions Herald” and books on the activities of the Seafarers’ Union of Russia and the FETO SUR, and also invited those who had not yet joined the union to became SUR members.
